However, this method can lead to additional work and is more likely to result in inconsistencies through human error.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hiring third-party agents such as accountants is a more reliable method and can save you time to focus on the things that really matter, like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/factorialhr.co.uk\/blog\/team-management-skills-for-effective-leadership\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">team management<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/factorialhr.co.uk\/blog\/job-enrichment\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> job enrichment<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Any Class 1A National Insurance you owe on these expenses will also need to be reported and any outstanding amount will need to be settled.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The process is a bit simpler if you have been paying expenses through payroll.\u00a0 You still need to <\/span><b>report any National Insurance owed via a <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/report-end-of-year-expenses-and-benefits-online\"><b>P11D(b) form<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but you don\u2019t need to report expenses at the end of the tax year.\u00a0 If this process, called \u2018payrolling\u2019, sounds like the preferable option to you, you can register to do so before 6th April each year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another option is reporting your allowable business expenses<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at the end of the tax year. You must report any National Insurance owed via a P11D(b) form in the same way, but <\/span><b>with<\/b> <b>the addition of an individual <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/report-end-of-year-expenses-and-benefits-online\"><b>P11D document<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for each employee that has expensed costs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These reports can be made online or by post, although correcting errors must be done with a P11D or P11D(b) form by post.
